First check all the fluids in your car and find is there any oil leaks in your car. If you found anything, resolve the issues with the help of authorized service centers. Make sure the power steering, antifreeze, engine oils and transmission fluids are all topped off. Inspect that there is any wear or tear in the hoses and belts under the hood.

When you plan to travel hundred of miles from your home, it is better to replaces the hoses and belts under the hood. Battery is the important thing in your car, hence inspect your batteries and find whether there are any acid leaks, corrosion or cracks. Because the life span of the battery is only two to five years. If your batter is very old then replace it to prevent the obstacles for your car trip.

Measure the pressure of your tire by using tire gauge. Also check your spare tire and jacks are operable. Take all the emergency kits that will help you in emergency situations.
