Connecting a computer to a Network is a complex one that requires a specific hardware, software and cabling. If the computer is going to be connected to an existing network, then only the administrator can help you to connect. Here we have provided the information to connect windows based computer to a network. The first thing to be done is to set up the file sharing. This can done by double click on My Computer, then right click on the network drives that is to be shared by the network users. Now click on Properties and click the Share As option to enter the information.
The Second thing to be done is choosing a required Hardware for networking. You can learn and do homework by searching in the internet for understanding the technology. The required hardware and cabling can be purchased based on the type of network. In case if you choosing client/server network, then you need to buy the hub to connect a computer; for a peer to peer network it just need a cable. Typically Ethernet can be selected as a data transfer protocol for your network.
Computer can be installed a network interface card (NIC), if it doesn’t have. The card will supply “T” which should be installed on the back of the card connector. Now we can attach a network cable to the one connector of the “T” and also attach a 50-ohm terminator in the other end if necessary. The other end of the cable can be connected to another computer network card for peer to peer network, or to the hub for a client/server network. You can restart the computer and install the network driver for the network card. Now the computer can be named and enter with username and password. Finally check whether the system is working and able to share the information with other computers to the network.
